How Do You Tell That Fundraising Is Working

Phil's Careers Blog How Do You Tell That Fundraising is Working? By Xio Kikauka How do you tell if your fundraising is working? And, maybe extra importantly, which particular actions are elevating the most cash? There are many various methods to answer these questions, and it is easy to get confused and end up measuring the incorrect issues. A few very common metrics which might be used that miss the most important side of fundraising are: These are all temptingly simple issues to measure, however they don't seem to be what in the end issues â€" how a lot money was donated. As such these are all proxy metrics and though they could be a signal that your fundraising is going in the best direction, you shouldn't over focus on them. They are only helpful if they lead to extra money being raised. For example, when you have a report over several years showing that internet traffic results in more donations, then it is safer to use this as a proxy. If on the other hand, you are merely guessing that internet vi sitors results in extra donations, this can be deceptive and potentially waste time. Generally a greater strategy is to have a subject on the donation page asking donors how they heard about your charity. This can permit you to see what forms of fundraising (if any) are really growing donations. This is such an necessary query that it's even price making obligatory when individuals donate. It is value bearing in mind that you may discover that your actions usually are not truly causing donations. It might be that just about the entire cash raised is due to word of mouth. Be open to this risk because it could drastically change your fundraising approach and save you huge amounts of cash. So subsequent time your Executive Director is pushing you to increase donor retention, make certain to remind them that a fundraiser’s backside line is not what number of new donors she retains, but how a lot cash she strikes. If your messaging lost you a few donors but you are now elevating more m oney, that is better than preserving these donors but having much less money to assist your cause. Piboidmo Day 18 Volunteer With Heather Ayris Burnell

Blog & website of children's book author Tara Lazar PiBoIdMo Day 18: Volunteer with Heather Ayris  Burnell Inspire and Be Inspired: Volunteer by Heather Ayris Burnell Sure, inspiration is all around us, but it doesn’t hurt to give our inspiration arsenal a little boost. Going new places, having new experiences, and meeting new people are sure-fire ways to have ideas. How can we do these things without leaving on a long, expensive vacation? By becoming a volunteer. Don’t be fooled, the act of volunteering can be mutually beneficial. We certainly don’t have to limit ourselves, but since we’re picture book writers we might benefit most from volunteering at places we can interact with our audienceâ€"kids. Being around books doesn’t hurt either. There are two obvious places where we can volunteer: schools and libraries. Schools are always in need of volunteers and right now cutbacks are making them even more appreciated. You might be able to help with the school’s reading program. My kid’s school has a HOSTS (Help One Student to Succeed) program where a mentor works with a child one on one for about forty-five minutes once a week. They read together, and it looks like they even have a good time. School librarians might love some help with shelving books or perhaps could use a knowledgeable adult to help students find the type of book they’re looking for, whether it’s just for fun or for figuring out what books they are allowed to read according to their reading level. Major bonus: you will be surrounded by children’s books. Think of all the cover illustrations and back cover blurbs you will have the chance to take a look at! Public libraries love volunteers too. Most have at least a weekly storytime for children. Volunteer to be a reader or an assistant. I know my library is always looking for more people to help with storytime. The Summer Reading Program is another fun kid’s program that your library might love help with. Not feeling like interacting much? You can volunteer to shelve books or help with the book sale. I absolutely love shelving books, so many different books cross my path that may not have otherwise. As for book sales, they can be quiet events with lots of book sorting, but my fellow book sale workers and I have a running list of “The World’s Funniest Book Titles” that we add to every sale. Possible book sale bonuses: camaraderie and great book discussions. Sure, writers can benefit from volunteering at other places like museums, art galleries, or wildlife preserves too. Find a place that appeals to you and give it a try. Don’t be afraid if you don’t have much time to spare, any little bit will be appreciated. Snippets of conversation, different points of view, fascinating or silly ideas, and looking at the world with the help of someone else’s perspective are all things we might be inspired by when volunteering. If we go into it with our eyes, ears, and hearts open, we just might get back more than a good idea for a book. Heather Ayris Burnell started volunteering at her local library because she was there all the time anyway. She has run the book sale, organized a storytelling festival, and put on an author fair, among other fun things. Her first picture book, Bedtime Monster (illustrated by Bonnie Adamson) comes out in 2010 from Raven Tree Press.

3 Steps to Unsticking Your Performance Management Process - Workology

3 Steps to Unsticking Your Performance Management Process - Workology Implementing Performance Management Processes That Employees Value Implementing Performance Management Processes That Employees Value Performance management programs tend to evoke strong (and often negative) feelings from employees and employers alike. This is because many organizations continue to rely on outdated practices, such as annual reviews, that hinder rather than help employees grow and fail to achieve the business results that senior management desires. The good news is that your business doesn’t have to stay stuck in ineffective and outdated practices. Forward-looking HR leaders who recognize the need for change can get buy-in from senior leaders and implement new performance management processes that employees actually value and want to participate in. Here’s how we approached it. Step 1: Take the Time to Understand What Your Workforce Actually Wants from Performance Management A performance management program can either help or hinder your workforce. However, before you can make any effective changes to current your processes and tools, you need to understand what isn’t working and why. You also need to take the time to evaluate what your employees want out of a performance management program. During this evaluation, there’s nothing more important than talking to your people. Your employees and managers likely have some strong opinions that they’ll be more than happy to share with you, you might be surprised how many of them crave an improved process. At my company, Kindred Group, we held a voluntary survey on our performance management program that generated a 78% response rate! Some of the key learnings we gleaned were that our employees are motivated when the performance management process delivers value to their professional lives, and that employees are demotivated by evaluations that focus on past performance. Insights like these helped us validate the need for a performance management overhaul. The next step is to convey your findings to decision makers who can sponsor and drive change in your organization. Share your internal findings as well as evidence-based research from experts that shows the impact that an improved performance process can have on business results. Step 2: Make the Performance Management Process Continuous Employers want their employees to be happy. But happiness isn’t necessarily what people want from their employers. Instead, employees want to feel motivated, and understand that their work matters and why. A performance management experience that delivers value to employees should focus on increasing motivation. Motivation will drive staff to work more efficiently, with greater levels of collaboration, creativity, and commitmentâ€"all of which has a positive impact on the bottom line. It’s impossible to increase employee motivation with an annual review process. If you only talk about goals at the top of the year by the time you revisit them, they’re likely invalid. Employees will probably consider such feedback irrelevant and the process a waste of time. To drive motivation, a performance management process must include frequent, ongoing conversations between employees and managers so that goals, progress and personal achievement remain relevant and top-of-mind. The content of these conversations is just as important as the frequency. Motivation is tied to a future-focused outlook and is better managed and measured through frequent conversations that focus on developmental opportunities. Managers must authentically engage with employees about their career success, goal achievement, and alignment of their work to the organizations top priorities. Coincidentally, that’s exactly what employees want. They want to talk about both their challenges and wins, and they crave feedback. This gives the organization and managers the ability to understand where employees are performing well and how managers can support them in areas that need improvement. To be successful, these frequent conversations should be “lightweight” and include future-oriented questions for employees such as: What motivates you? Whats helping you? What do you need? And HR can support this by coaching managers in giving more productive, proactive feedback, as well as asking the right questions. Step 3: Train Managers on the Process, and Put the Tools in Place to Measure Progress Managers are critical to the success of your organization’s performance management program. They play an outsized role in motivating, engaging, and developing staff. The cliché that “people leave managers not companies” is borne out by research showing that managers account for 70% of the variance in engagement among employees. This makes it critical to ensure managers are trained to give and receive effective feedback and are coached in the elements of a continuous process. Managers also need professional development opportunities. Most companies fail to provide regular supervisory and management training, yet in many ways this is one of the most powerful tools you have. Take time to meet with managers and train them on your talent management practices so that everyone feels comfortable having frequent, lightweight conversations. Helping managers be better managers by having better quality and more frequent conversations with their teams is at the core of the increases in engagement and performance improvements I’ve seen in our own program. Finally, having the right technology in place to support continuous performance management is essential. You need HR Technology designed specifically to support managers and the organization in a continuous process. We chose the Betterworks platform to manage our continuous performance process, document the results, and help measure its effectiveness. This helps eliminate the administrative burden associated with your program while enabling you to continually improve the process based on actionable data. Transforming an ineffective performance management program into one employees love is no small undertaking. It requires sweeping changes that take a lot of time and effortâ€"but the results are worth it. Making this transition can pay off huge for your business. By deploying a continuous process that is inherently valuable to employees, you wind up with a motivated, engaged workforce that will stay with your organization and be ready to tackle today’s goals and tomorrow’s challenges.

Basic starches cause glucose to rise and fall, draining vitality, while bananas are full of magnesium, a mineral that can help with rest. Moreover, fruits are loaded with melatonin, so lay off those cherry and banana hotcakes - but make sure to eat. An absence of iron, nutrient D, and different supplements can make it harder to remain wakeful, as well. Advice for First Time Managers on the Job

Advice for First Time Managers on the Job Jennifer King, HR Analyst for Software Advice, wrote a great blog on advice for individual contributors recently promoted into a people management role. Her blog is well-researched and I feel there are some important insights in her post for both managers as well as non-managers. Discuss Career Goals with your Manager King’s first point recommends that managers get to know those they manage in new and different ways. We often coach our clients who are not in managerial roles how they can help their manager in this process. We advocate that the employees make sure they are having career goals conversations with their manager as their manager is someone who may be able to help them in their career. I’m glad to see King is advocating it from the manager’s side as well. We also tell our non-managerial clients that a great item to discuss during the initial meetings with your manager are: Your communication style (i.e. how you prefer to be communicated with) The level and type of recognition they prefer (i.e. a note of thanks, the preferred employee parking spot, etc) Managers should also let the employees know how they like to be communicated with. Managers and those they manage can come up with clear expectations of communication preferences that will make it much easier to work together. Managers will need to spend a lot of time upfront learning from their team members, but it will pay dividends in the end. Work with High-Performers Too King’s second point is for managers to learn to see their work through others. This advice can help managers reach new levels through their high performers. Oftentimes, new managers spend more time with performers not meeting expectations. However, spending time with the high-performers and helping them reach new heights, will not only help the employee improve but may also allow the manager to see even more results from her team. Managers do need to spend time with all their employees, but too often, the squeaky wheel gets most of the grease. Spending some concentrated time with high-performers also can lead to great dividends for all involved. The Management Style You Shouldnt Choose The last point we will speak to is developing your own style. We agree that each manager needs to have her own style. One tip we give to our clients who are moving into managerial roles is to think about the managers they didn’t like working for. What about their style bothered you? How can you change that? Another important consideration when creating your own style is to learn how individual members of your team need to be managed. How do you need to tweak your style to help ensure the success of your team? Not every employee is cut out to move into a people management role. Many don’t want that type of responsibility and others learn pretty quickly that they enjoy being an individual contributor. A manager can have a big impact on projects as well as individual’s lives, both positively and negatively. Reading King’s blog will help new managers put this new challenge into perspective and learn what they can do to make it a successful transition.

It's basic to let the individuals you work with realize you have constrained data transfer capacity, assets, and time. Practice steady re-prioritization with the goal that any new, increasingly significant activities will push more seasoned, unimportant tasks to the side except if in any case indicated. An extraordinary device to use to help organize exercises is the abbreviation WIN, which represents the inquiry, What's significant now? It was authored by persuasive orator and amazing school football trainer Lou Holtz in his book, Winning Every Day: The Game Plan for Success. Holtz would have his school players ask themselves the WIN inquiry 35 times each day to assist them with remaining concentrated on what made a difference most in each part of their school understanding. At the point when this basic, yet incredible, evaluation question is combined with a solid readiness to state no, the outcome is emotional. This one-two mix will help improve your feeling of control, level desires, keep up an economical remaining burden, and realign needs all of which hose work burnout. 2. Buffoon You have authorization to play at this moment. Science says as much. Instructive and conduct specialists have since quite a while ago known the advantages of play (or mental interruption) with regards to discovering answers for dubious issues. F.P. Hughes clarifies the apparently straightforward idea is really made out of three complex, yet gainful, components that are material to the working environment and help battle burnout. The main component's a character trademark, which speaks to an individual's concept of himself and his demeanor toward others. While playing, this component will in general show as suddenness, interest, and perseverance. Next, there's a scholarly procedure that shapes the manner in which we think and issue explain. While analysts make some extreme memories placing the specific purpose of cover between play, inventiveness, and knowledge, they trust it identifies with posing unique inquiries, making uncommon associations, just as having loosened up considerations that emphasis on analogies and representations. Finally, Hughes brings up that the activity of playing adds to imaginative outcomes, which normally appear as novel arrangements, new bits of knowledge, or procedure upgrades. Most importantly when each of the three of those components meet up, it's hard to isolate work from play. It's genuinely an enchantment remedy against pressure. Thus, break out the hacky sack-OK, fine, 2048-at this point! 3. Unwind A February article from Harvard Medical School found that reflection diminishes pressure, crabbiness, and nervousness. In addition, it improves rest. And keeping in mind that an expanding number of Americans are receiving these rewards, still under 10% of the U.S. populace participates in any type of contemplation or coordinated unwinding. On the off chance that you don't have the foggiest idea about the contrast between a chakra and a bit of okra, go to YouTube. Truly! I utilize this brisk 13-minute video by Qi Gong educator, Lee Holden. While he recorded the video to be utilized as a daily unwinding custom before bed to advance a tranquil night rest, I do it before anything else and during lunch to assist me with unwinding during the day. It's astonishing, it works, it's free, and you can squeeze play at this moment. Maybe the most intriguing part of occupation burnout is that it's less about the real employment stress itself and progressively about the way wherein the individual in that activity reacts to it. Ideally your protection reaction to work pressure going ahead will be: No. Play. Ohm! Photograph of pressure ball kindness of Shutterstock.

We could get terrified of the extra duty that achievement would bring, and wonder in case we're up to it.One clinician even recommends that the physical energy of progress is solid to such an extent that it can raise other solid sentiments we'd preferably not stand up to, including outrage, dread, torment or trauma. There are a few different ways to conquer this dread , and they're simple however they take practice. One is to envision what achievement resembles to you - how you would structure your days and what you would wear - to get settled with it. Another is to make a triumph library of motivational statements, truisms, and beneficial things that have occurred in your own vocation and return to it regularly. The achievement library has a double reason: to tell you the best way to inspire yourself and to advise you that you have just experienced achievement, with the goal that it's not frightening or intimidating. You don't organize successSure, everybody needs to be a mogul and a CEO, however that degree of accomplishment takes work. On the off chance that you truly need to rise, you need to put it on your timetable: regardless of whether it's completing undertakings early and under spending plan, or getting new abilities, or making contacts with savvy individuals who know your industry, succeeding takes research and time. It might mean avoid ing some mid-day breaks, remaining late, or pursuing classes that occupy cash and time. It's vital, in any case, on the grounds that even crude ability doesn't prevail without exertion. Each fruitful individual discussions about how hard they attempted to arrive, and it's no exaggeration. One admonition: don't simply clock hours trusting they will mysteriously prompt advancements. Each extra exertion you take, or each occasion you join in, ought to bring you one bit nearer to your objective.

Web Design Tips to Sell Books and Build Brands - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Web Design Tips to Sell Books and Build Brands - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Web design is usually approached from a subjective or an aesthetic, or I like blue! point of view; but if you really want your site to sell books, products, and services while building your brand, you have to know a bit about the psychology of your website visitors. Thats the message Susan Weinschenk delivers in Neuro Web Design: What makes them click? Susan is a Ph.D. psychologist with 30 years of experience applying what we know about people to the design of technology. Susans message is relevant to every author and brand-builder who wants a website that will convert first-time visitors into prospects, and prospects into lifelong clients and customers. To succeed, our websites have to appeal to our visitors unconscious reactions based on emotions and automatic triggers. As Susan wrote: We think that we are reasonable, rational people and that our decisions are made by careful thinking. But the reality is that the Web site we pick, what we decide to do while there, and whether we buy or not are decisions and actions that we make in a largely unconscious way. In Neuro Web Designs less than 140-pages, Susan convincingly describes why many of our decisions are based on emotion, and many are based on automatic triggers that we react to from something we see on the website. Susans message is simple: we have to design our websites to appeal to our visitors unconscious drives and needs, not our own subjective opinions! Neuro Web Design begins with a short description of your website visitors brain, then moves on to the 10 major implications of the way visitors will react to your website. Every website visitor has 3 brains! The starting point is to recognize that every website visitor not 1, but 3 brainsan old brain, a mid brain, and a new brain: Old brain. This is the part of your website visitors brain that developed first in the evolutionary history of animals. This part of the brain is concerned with survival. The old brain constantly on the look out for change, deciding what is safe and what isnt safe. Mid brain. This is where emotions and feelings are processed. This part of the brain plays a major role in impulse buying. New brain. This is the most recent structure, the part of the brain where language processing, speech, reading, thinking, and planning take place. In the remaining chapters of her book, Susan describes the ongoing battle between our visitors 3 brains, and how to design sites that will get them to click! Implications From her 30 years of research, including the latest brain wave studies, Susan describes 10 major principles. These include: Social validation. Your visitors want to belong, they look for evidence that others trust you and value your ideas. Third party client or reader reviews and testimonials satisfy the need for social validation. Reciprocity and concession. When you give something of value, like helpful and useful information, to a web visitor, theyre more likely to want to give you something back in return, like permission to contact them via e-mail. But, not asking for anything in return at all increases the recipients loyalty and drive to favorably respond. Scarcity. Demand increases when quantities are limited. Putting a time limit on offers, for example, can increase response. Think back to the last televised auction for your local public elevision or public radio. Notice the way the challenge grants are for limited amounts of time, and how bids for   quickie board items increase as remaining quantities get smaller. Too many choices. One of Susans most important principles is involves the paradox of choice: when you present your visitor with too many choices, youre actually reducing the likelihood theyll take any action at all! As she stated in a recent interview, its important that web marketers know the MDAthe Most Desired Actionthey want visitors to take on each page. The above four principles provide just a glimpse of the insights you can use to focus the design of your blogs and websites to best appeal to the various brains inside the heads of your website visitors. This is not a book about psychology; its a book about behavior. Dont confuse Neuro Web Design with the textbooks you had to study in college. Its just 140 pages long; most chapters contain fewer than a dozen pages. Neuro Web Design was read to appeal to web designers, web marketers, and business owners. Neuro Web Design is a book to be read, thought about, and applied to your website. Each of the 10 principles are backed-up with specific examples that will help you apply the ideas to evaluating your current site, or planning a new site. Additional lessons for personal branding branding success When you visit Susan Weinschenks website, youll see she obviously takes her own advice. Her sites URL, for example, is based on her easy to remember What makes them click statement, which is easy to spell and easy to remember. It also provides an umbrella presence flexible enough to accommodate future book titles. Best of all, her Twitter followers know her as the even-easier-to-remember @thebrainlady!. Takeaway questions First, have you analyzed your current website from a big picture perspective, that goes beyond your goals and preferences, and takes human factorslike visitors with 3 brains into account?   Are you open to reading out of field books that challenge your assumptions and behaviors? Second, do you enjoy reading book reviews like this, or do you prefer more action-based tutorials that describe specific ideas, resources, and tips that you can use to plan, write, promote, and profit from your brand building books? 35+ Best Jobs For 20 Year Olds (Part Time Full Time) - Algrim.co

35+ Best Jobs For 20 Year Olds (Part Time Full Time) - Algrim.co Are you a 20 year old? Looking for a job? Want some inspiration as it relates to which jobs might suit you. We’ve compiled the best list of jobs for 20-year-olds right here. The first thing you have to look at is whether or not you decided to graduate or go to school. As a 20-year-old, you may have had the ability to attend some university or maybe even graduated. If you graduated, you may want to start looking for jobs that apply to some of your schooling or extracurricular activities. Lets Assume No University In today's world, graduating from a university isn’t required for many jobs. The jobs can be somewhat high paying, as well. What more and more employers are looking for is someone who has a lot of experience. Ideally, when you start thinking about a job that might be the best fitting for you, think about the experiences you’ve had in your life. And then think about what you, in particular, seem to be good at that others aren’t. When people come to me and say, what type of job should I get? I always tell them that what they should be looking for is doing something that comes easily for them, but is harder for others. For example, if you are really great at cooking, why not become a chef? Cooking isn’t incredibly easy, and it's becoming even more valuable on a regular basis. Spend time thinking about yourself and what others have mentioned you seem to be particularly good at. If you are good at working with carpentry, start working in carpentry. I’ve found it’s really that easy. The mistakes are often made when younger age groups who are entering the job market start to challenge themselves too much with categories of work that don’t come naturally. If You Do Have A Bachelors Degree If you do have a degree and you are searching for ideas for jobs, maybe you should consider optimizing your job in accordance with what you have a degree in. If you are lacking experience, you can use that degree to your advantage. In particular, using it as a sort of bargaining chip during the interview process to increase your odds of being hired. For example, let's say you went to school for journalism, you could easily get a job as a copy editor. You can apply your journalism major to this job function quite easily. And it may look good for you to have this degree while others may not. Lets Think About Jobs Are Suitable For 20 Year Olds I’m going to go ahead and assume no degree from a University. Primarily I’m going to do this so that we can challenge this list to be one that even if you do have a degree, will still be beneficial. I’d say the jobs below then make it optional to have a diploma or not. When thinking about these roles it’s still imperative that you navigate your way through analyzing whether or not it will be a good fit for you. You need to spend the time thinking through your career path as well, making sure that this experience you are trying to garnish is going to lead to something greater. If you don’t have that plan mapped out, then finding temporary work is absolutely okay. But you need to be taking the time to think through what your plan is with regard to your career and at the very least, set some goals for yourself. 35 Best Jobs For 20 Year Olds Gardener Copy Editor Office Assistant Executive Assistant Copy Writer Content Writer Social Media Manager Marketing Associate Media Planner Bartender Store Sales Associate HVAC Worker Construction Worker Road Maintance Worker City Maintance Worker Fire Department Volunteer Dental Hygienist Financial Planner Financial Analyst Hair Stylist Tattoo Artist Makeup Artist Hostess or Server Medical Assistant Nutritionist Personal Trainer Customer Support Specialist Online Support Specialist Pharmacist Therapist Massage Therapist Teachers Aid Elementary School Teacher Regional Manager Retail Manager Delivery Driver Postal Service Worker These are just some of the job functions that are obtainable to a 20-year-old. If you are looking for more inspiration as it relates to potential jobs that you could have, start thinking about the categories of work you’d like to be in. In this list, I covered a large selection from construction to the arts. Think about what line of work you’d like to be in first and then it will become easier to do research regarding what types of entry-level positions are available within them. As with any of these lines of work, there is always the potential to intern as well. Internships will provide you an opportunity to learn about a new line of work and develop a relationship with the employees who are already apart of the company. Often times interns are hired for open positions when they’re high performers.

Should You Join The Increasing Number Of Graduates Turning To Self-Employment

Should You Join The Increasing Number Of Graduates Turning To Self-Employment There is a growing number of graduates turning to self-employment after completing their degrees, with 4.8% of 2010/2011 leavers choosing to go it alone, which is 3% higher than in 2007. Self-employment:  a viable career alternative for graduates? This increase in self-employment has taken place despite graduate vacancies being at a five-year high, with 17,217 openings available in firms surveyed in a recent High Fliers Research study. However, it has also been found that there are 46 applicants for every post and over 20,000 university leavers remain unemployed for six months, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency. With fierce competition for graduate roles, possible periods of unemployment and self-employment success stories, including Nick DAloisio and Mark Zuckerberg, it is little wonder that a growing number of study leavers are choosing to take action and craft out their own employment opportunities rather than joining the masses applying to graduates vacancies. [ALSO READ:  Millionaires Under 30 Who Aren’t Named Zuckerberg or Bieber] Setting up for success Many universities encourage their students to adopt an entrepreneurial attitude to broaden their career opportunities. By making the most of the opportunities that your university has made available, you can build your enterprising skills and widen your experience ready for the future. Business learning is now often integrated into the curriculum of many degrees, with project management, budget planning and networking being amongst the skills that students have the chance to develop in an educational environment centring on vision, flair and opportunity. A number of institutions also run business competitions and have enterprise societies for students. With entrepreneurship now being so heavily embedded in university education and the student lifestyle, it provides a greater opportunity to become equipped with the skills and expertise needed to go it alone once you leave university. Support for the self-employed Plenty of government encouragement and support has also been made available for new businesses set up by graduates or other professionals, as they can help to generate economic growth and job openings, which in turn can help the UK to make a stronger recovery from the recession. In the 2013 budget George Osborne revealed that he had plans to further invest in start-ups and small businesses in order to boost enterprise and reignite growth through innovation, with tax relief for investors, the Start-Up Loans Scheme and the Small Business Research Initiative. There is also further support available for self-employed graduates from the Princes Youth Business Trust, Business Gateway and SIE, which have been set up exclusively to support and nurture entrepreneurial talent. Meanwhile, a large number of businesses and agencies in the UK are designed to provide solutions to those new to contracting  or wanting to set up their own business, offering support on a multitude of different areas, ranging from finances and legal considerations to branding and logos. With such varied support both inside and outside of university available to graduates heading into self-employment, it is currently a good time to choose to freelance, contract or set up your own business. The increasing number of graduates turning to self-employment showcases a confidence amongst other study leavers in their ability to start up alone at a time where innovation is encouraged and needed. So, will you be joining your peers by making the most of this current opportunity and turning to self-employment? photo credit: Daquella manera via photopin cc 13

When Writing a Resume About How Far Back Do You Go With Work History

When Writing a Resume About How Far Back Do You Go With Work HistoryThe first question to ask when writing a resume is, 'Where do I start?' This is a very difficult question to answer and one of the major mistakes that people make is trying to cram too much information into a resume. Unfortunately, this often leads to errors and some of these errors can affect your ability to get hired. It is not just a good idea to avoid cramming all of your past work history onto a resume, but it is also important to know where you start with work history. In order to write a resume that is well-written and will stand out, it is important to know how long you should start your work history with your current employer. Many people believe that they need to start their work history at a very young age in order to put their strongest foot forward. This is simply not true. Most companies, including most large corporations, do not hire candidates who have worked for them for more than seven years. In fact, some companies are willing to consider someone who has worked for them for as little as five years! The question to ask when writing a resume about a candidate's work history is how far back do you go with work history. If you are currently working for a company, you might consider asking a professional resume writer about where the company started and what it was doing six months ago. In fact, some hiring managers will actually tell you that they would be willing to consider anyone who has worked for them within the last six months, as long as they are within five years of employment. This is simply because there are so many people who do not keep a good track record with certain employers who will take advantage of this guideline.A smart resume writer will start with a person's work history on the first day of employment and continue to add more years onto it throughout the rest of the process. This is a smart approach to take because it shows the company that you will be able to grow and mature with the organization and will be able to handle the day-to-day tasks involved with the job. If a company does not start on the first day of employment, they will generally move the date forward to the next year. The company wants to see that a candidate is not only going to fit into the job responsibilities, but also that they can succeed at those responsibilities. Many people incorrectly assume that they should always start their work history from the beginning. This is a mistake because there are times when a person has experienced a temporary period of unemployment and the date of their first day of employment may be very far in the past. In fact, it is more likely that they have worked for the company for less than six months and are still employed. Some jobs only require people to have worked at least one year at a company before they qualify for benefits. In order to get the best results when writing a resume about how far back do you go with work history, a per son should use a professional resume writer to write their resume. A good resume writer will make sure that the company has the information they need to ensure that they hire a candidate who is a fit for the job. In order to be hired, the person must have a strong case for the position that they want. There are several things to consider when writing a resume about how far back do you go with work history. This is something that is crucial to do when looking for a new job.
